THE BLUE RIBBON GLEE CLUB, one of me personal favorite punk cover choirs (like there's a bunch of those), have a new 7" coming out and here's a video for their cover of 'California Uber Alles' by the DEAD KENNEDYS. It's just too good not to post.

I have to admit, I've been pretty fascinated with LYKKE LI since she's hit the scene. Her sweet voice and light and bouncy rhythms really have a way of relaxing me and putting a smile on my face. It's almost like she makes hawaiin music without sounding anything like it. She's pretty cute too.

Here's a remix that we just got in the mail of her first hit 'Little Bit'. It's done my THE LOVING HAND, which is TIM GOLDSWORTHY of DFA, and very much has that DFA/DISCO signature sound and length (8 min). Enjoy!

Jaguar Love's new record Take Me to the Sea came out last Tuesday on Matador Records and to celebrate we have some giveaways for you! First if you aren't familiar with them, scurry over to their myspace at http://www.myspace.com/jaguarloveband and listen for yourself. I listened to the record last night and since I began writing this I've been trying find a way to describe this record appropriately. So, I checked Wikipedia to see what they thought but defined the sound as American art punk. I'm not sure that I really agree with that and I'm not going to dwell on what I thought about Wikipedia's art punk entry – believe me, I could. Wikipedia aside, I found the best way to describe them is just exactly what they are: a hybrid of Pretty Girls Make Graves and The Blood Brothers.

The result is either a wet dream for the nu-generation or Natalie Portman's Shaved Head video for "Sophisticated Side Ponytail."
