Abandoning the “Winter months” of sub-tropical Queensland, the Brisbane punk thrash band, DZ Deathrays have been on the road since August playing festivals and shows around Europe and the UK. Now the duo, Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley, are heading to California for a West Coast tour!

Earlier this year the DZ Deathrays released their first full length album, “Bloodstreams” on I OH YOU Records to high esteem from NME, The AU Review, Triple J, and Pitchfork. This album pulses from start to stop, and no doubt any house party with this duo would turn into a sweaty “bloody” rager. When I pump it on my boardwalk bike rides my casual cruise turns into an all out sprint. There are traces of electronic effects that add depth to the music, but for me, loud and fast is a refreshing change from the electro-pop that fills the endless Australian Summers. Don’t get me wrong I’m into that too but if you’re into guitar shredding, fast drums, heavy cymbals, and the occasional scream-sing, download the new album “Bloodstreams.”

Whether people want to label them Party Punk or Thrash Pop, the DZ Deathrays are building a reputation as badass rockers. Self proclaimed fans of our IHC and CYP2 veteran, Andrew W.K., they live by the house party and hope to die by the house party. Earning legendary status with urban lore including lit flares at shows and getting kicked out of SXSW for rocking too hard. Andrew would be proud, hey. DZ Deathray shows fuel into an elbow pushing, spontaneous jumping, head banging party, so come prepared!

Tickets for their 9/14 show at the Bootleg Theater are available HERE.
