If you’re not familiar with Shigeto, nows the time to get with it. Straight out of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Zach Saginaw (Shigeto) started out on drums at very early age, heavily influenced by his fathers taste in Detroit Jazz and Motown. Shigeto pursued This interest would remain a constant as he spent three years studying jazz in NYC and another three in London before even begining his exploration into the electronic realm.

While visiting in London, Shigeto’s brother passed him a copy of Reason 2. Shigeto started recording samples of everyday life in the streets; looping them into incredible tracks that would later be discovered by Ghostly affiliate Moodgadget. After several EP’s and remixes for artists like Worst Friends, Praveen & Benoit, Tycho, Mux Mool, and Charles Trees, A Setting Sun, Beautiful Bells, and Shlohmo; Shigeto was finally inducted into the Ghostly family, where TheSemi-Circle EP and What We Held Onto EP were first released and later all tied together by the release of Full Circle (Shigeto’s first LP)

Shigeto’s latest LP Lineage (released earlier this year) is a melodic wonderland, with stuttering glitches, gravid bass, and ambient waves. Lineage runs much deeper than just songs on a record, rather its a passionate dedication to Shigeto’s family and japanese heritage which makes it that much more special.

Shigeto will be accompanying Dabrye this friday at Club Los Globos. TICKETS!
