Between performing as one half of Sepalcure and continually producing beats with long time collaborator, Azealia Banks, it would seem like there isn’t much time left for Berlin based multi-instrumentalist, Travis Stewart, to focus on his own individual efforts. Thus, anytime Stewart does release some of his own work, the result is a meaningful and emotionally charged production. As Machinedrum, one of many aliases over the years, Stewart creates a template for his own reflection shown musically through the humanistic tendencies that often permeate the sonic layers of each piece. Although much of his work tends to be complex and hyper involved, you can certainly relate to the cohesiveness of each production. With cacophonous vocal samples and a warm rhythmic tonality, Machinedrum’s spacious productions feel organic and lush, designing a new theory of what modern IDM should be.

Machinedrum will be performing in Los Angeles tomorrow, August 2, at Los Globos. Joining him will be Scuba, Low Limit, and Kuru. In the meantime, check out Machinedrum’s latest single, Luster, part of a 58 Track Electronic Explorations compilation, over HERE.
