“I found a new one,” she said to me as she smelled the flowers. I wasn’t quite sure what she was talking about, but I heard something in the background that distracted me. It was the sound of attraction and suddenly the image in front of me just didn’t add up to what I was hearing. I was wooed into my new favorite band, Wooing, and all became right for just a moment.
I wish that story was true! The reality isn’t far from that fiction. I came across Wooing in one of those rare instances of distraction (or the more common instance of procrastination). I was trying not to focus on what was in front of me and by happenstance saw an image that pulled me in and what I found was treasure.
Wooing is a new band fronted by Rachel Trachtenburg (formally of the Trachtenburg Family) and they are both mysterious and enticing. If you are into psychedelic, garage influenced rock that screams of classic influences like Royal Trux or The Velvet Underground and puts them on par with their west coast counterparts like Cherry Glazerr or Bleached, then you will love them too.
Like my fantasy story above, there isn’t a lot to know about Wooing yet, only some basics and that I love them. Sometimes you can’t deny what’s right in front of you. However, we will all find out for sure if they are everything I dream they can be when they release their debut EP, Day Dream Time Machine, soon.
If you live in NYC, make sure not to miss Wooing’s residency at Piano’s all of May.
