It’s been over four years since we last heard from the Australia’s Van She, but with their sophomore album having finally made its way to the U.S., you can expect to be hearing from them a lot more. Ideas of Happiness, sees the band at a much more refined and mature state in their careers, focusing on unified sounds to build out their aural palette. Recorded in their own studio with more controlled elements, Van She has envisioned an album that is poised and consistent, with each song coming together to create sun-soaked sentiments just in time for Summer (Australia’s anyways). While the songs on, Ideas of Happiness, are just as infectious as their 2008 debut, the record thrives with its ability to be both spacious and resonant; with each instrument receiving a proper spotlight in the mix, as opposed to being shrouded in a dense net of maximal sonics. Intimate surroundings inspire honesty, and with Ideas of Happiness, Van She are on a dedicated path to understanding who it is they really are.

IHEARTCOMIX & Dim Mak are joining forces to present Van She for the first time in the states since 2006. The band will perform live on October 17th at Dim Mak Studios with special guests. Be sure to check out there brand new video for, Jamaica, the second single from their sophomore LP, Idea of Happiness, out now on Modular.
