Earlier this week, we announced our new weekly series IHC Sundays at Drai’s in Hollywood and so far the response has been nothing short of amazing. This Sunday we begin with a soft opening but a big line up including Digitalism, Harvard Bass, Franki Chan and DJ Stevie Be! It’s free before 11PM with RSVP, and you can expect to see all the familiar faces out to support. I mean really, what beats partying on a rooftop bar in Hollywood on hot Summer nights! We were very fortunate to have our good friend Com Truise design possibly the sickest retro flyer ever for our opening night! We look forward to seeing you Sunday for a night of unpretentious partying and dancing so come out and show your support!

IHEARTCOMIX is getting ready for a busy Summer and we need some solid street soldiers to help us spread the word about our upcoming shows. If you like going to shows for free, being outdoors, and supporting your favorite bands and artists this might be the perfect Summer gig. Earn FREE entry to our shows for volunteering a couple of hours a week to hang show posters around L.A.! We have already scouted the area and prepared a list of prime locations in Echo Park, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, etc. so searching for locations won’t be a problem. POWER UP: ANAMANAGUCHI’S ENDLESS FANTASY

Yesterday, Anamanaguchi released their highly anticipated first full length album Endless Fantasy. The chip tuners have certainly risen to the occasion infusing their famed 8-bit synths with contemporary guitar lines and for the first time ever, vocals! It’s true the 22 track album is a bit lengthy but the occasional interlude provides a cleansing of the listening palate to avoid burning out. In fact, if you have an affinity for for the NES/Nintendo era you’ll find yourself envisioning your own 8-bit adventure!

As a child of the 80′s I respect Anamanaguchi for embracing their retro flow but am happy to see a progression from their earlier work. The new album pays tribute to all the chip tunes of past while elevating their music to incorporate contemporary influences. Each track begins in a new place, or on a new level for all you gamer nerds out there, and takes you somewhere unexpected yet familiar. The addition of vocals is something that has the band and fans excited and for good reason. Listening to Meesh’s synth pop pipes on “Japan Air,” it wouldn’t surprise me to find her in future endeavors with the chip rockers. One of the most exciting prospects to come from the new album is the possibility of new music videos! Anamanaguchi was able to reach their Kickstarter goal with ease and pledges have kept pouring in accumulating almost $160K with plenty of time to spare. This album release could not have come at a better time as Check Yo Ponytail 2 is right around the corner! As you know, seeing a band live is a much more visceral experience than listening through headphones or computer speakers, and seeing Anamanaguchi live will seem surreal debuting this incredible album live. Patience & Progression: An Introduction to XXXY

Rupert Taylor has been perfecting his production chops since his first electronic based release in 2006. While his music may not be as well know as some of his contemporaries, under his XXXY nom de plume, Taylor continues to refine his take on UK garage and Chicago house, enhancing retro character with a modern sheen. Not interested in the in-your-face tactics that has become so prevalent in today’s dance music, XXXY yields a patience that crosses over into his music, with long, percolating intros that slowly build into a cacophonous resolution that reel us in with throwback R&B chops and a new jack attitude.

XXXY will be performing at the next OFF/CNTR coming up at Los Globos on May 18th. Joining him will be Om Unit, Low Limit, and Sodapop. Join us for another vibed out evening left of the mainstream dance curve.

Beats and Bounds: An Introduction to Low Limit

Experimentalist producer/DJ Bryant Rutledge, aka LOW LIMIT, has been breaking boundaries with his unconventional mixing as one half of Lazer Sword for some time. He recently concluded a US/Canadian tour with Astro Nautico affiliate Time Wharp after dropping their collaborative Time Limit mix on XLR8R which you can listen to below. The mix is actually two individual mixes combined into one but you’ll easily recognize the transition into LOW LIMIT’s unorthodox rhythms and innovative tones. Once it takes you, you’ll be vibing the rest of the night!

We’re excited to welcome back LOW LIMIT to OFF/CNTR Saturday, May 18th at Los Globos. Hope you’re ready to go deep for a night of unique beats, and drum and bass.
