In the video world, music is often overlooked as the focus tends to lean towards shock and awe tactics and special effects. Not every music video you see has to be over the top in concept or full of gimmicks. In fact, sometimes a minimalist approach is necessary to maintain the visual aesthetic that is portrayed by a musical composition.

While much of what you hear from France these days is deeply rooted in house and techno, Parisian singer/producer, Lafayette, yearns for the golden era of French Music, taking vintage elements in the vein of Serge Gainsbourg and Yves Montand, and applying them to a lighter modern production. His latest single, Eros Automatique, sees the return of his crisp, synthetic pop productions, this time complimented by the soft and sensual presence of his lovely guest vocalist, Alka Balbir. With a casual charm and a touch of class, Lafayette continues to win us over with the sweet progressive sound of modern simplicity.
