Began in 2006 as a weekly event series in Los Angeles, Check Yo Ponytail quickly took on a life of it’s own as it became the home for many debut and groundbreaking performances including the LA introductions of Justice, Crystal Castles, Matt & Kim, Diplo, Flosstradamus, The Kooks, The Horrors and many more. The original iteration continued until mid-2008.

In 2010 Check Yo Ponytail returned as Check Yo Ponytail 2, a reimagined version of the original. Continuing with the tradition of debuting groundbreaking artists, CYP2 also made it a point to be groundbreaking in other ways. Evolving into more of a multimedia experience, each CYP2 show featured original live visuals by Demonbabies, a National PR campaign, original music and mixtapes created by the performing artists, original illustrated flyers by Franki Chan and were fully filmed and produced into an ongoing video series for Pitchfork TV. The presence of CYP2 had such demand that it even spawned two national tours, an attempted documentary film and an appearance by The Rolling Stones. Performances in this era included Grimes, Trash Talk, Boys Noize, Skrillex, The Drums, Holy Ghost, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Killer Mike & El-P, Diplo, A-Trak and so many more.

In 2014 CYP2 came to an end with an eye to evolve the concept even further… into a TV show! IHC teamed up with Mack Sennett Studios to film and produce a pilot that took all the elements of CYP and added a whole lot more in the form of an otherworldly talk and variety show inspired by IHC Live. More to come on the results of this down the line….
