While Australian performer, Jack Ladder, has been creating songs in his homeland for years, it’s with the release of his third LP, Hurtsville, that sees the singer finally coming into his confidence. With a commanding presence and a rich, well-defined Baritone, Jack Ladder croons heavyhearted themes to slow, meandering arrangements that showcase a far evolution from his earlier work, both vocally and through arrangement. Rather than getting lost amongst swarms of noise and feedback, Jack Ladder trades in calculated conviction for the more humanistic feeling of creating a larger soundscape with the addition of his new band, The Dreamlanders. While many people draw comparisons to Nick Cave or Leonard Cohen simply because of his vocal timbre, there is much more to appreciate from the sonic signature of his work. The world owes it to him to recognize his talents, and Hurtsville brings him one step closer to that realization.

Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders will be performing at Los Globos on Sunday, October 28. Joining him will be Cult of Youth, Pure Ground, and Survive. In the meantime, make sure to check out Jack Ladder’s 3rd LP, Hurtsville, out now on Holloweyed.
