It’s been just a few years since the inception of Amanda Warner’s, MNDR project. Our first introduction to her dazzling audio/visual performance was at CYP2 last year, and since then Warner has toured with Duran Duran, collaborated with Mark Ronson, and just recently released her debut LP on Ultra records. Warner remains dedicated to her analog obsession, one of the fundamental characteristics of MNDR’s sound. While meticulous sound design calls for long studio sessions tweaking knobs and dialing in tones, Warner embraces the intimacy of the studio as a haven for creation. The result is a crisp, technical work that shimmers with pop tonalities but with an openness to experimentation.
MNDR will be performing at Los Globos on August 17th. Joining her will be Nicky Da B, Blok, and Paul Devro. Her brand new album, Feed Me Diamonds, came out on Ultra this week, so come dance and celebrate with us!!!

While we have been in the party game for awhile now, there’s always lessons to be learned from our good friend, Andrew W.K. As he contiunes to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of his debut album, I Get Wet, Andrew WK has been blazing a fierce party trail across the county with his full band (includeing wife, Cherie Lilly) in tow. Today, Andrew celebrates the upcoming reissue of the album by releasing a new music video for the wild hype anthem, It’s Time to Party. The video is a wacky, playful romp through town as Andrew very quickly infects everyone he meets with his party vibes, culminating in one hell of a house party that sufficiently doubles as an AWK cosplay showcase.
The 10 Year Anniversary Edition of, I Get Wet, will be available August 28th on Century Media Records and will be available on Vinyl for the first time ever. Also, included in 500 special edition versions of the record will be personal items belonging to the Party Ambassador himself ranging anywhere from cut patches of his iconic white jeans to locks of his hair.

What started out as a hobby quickly turned into a calling as ABX and STV SLV, two track mashers from Chicago known as The Hood Internet, continue to destroy clubs with their multi-genre discography of high energy mashups. The Windy City producers have spent the last five years reworking indie, rap, and pop culture hits into hyped out, infectious party anthems; all of which are released for free as if they were digital white labels for a modern generation. With their debut LP, FEAT, coming out October 2nd on Decon Records, The Hood Internet embark on a new digital journey as the album features all original compositions with a laundry list of notable collaborators including Class Actress, Cadence Weapon, Kid Static, and AC Newman from The New Pornographers creating this self-described, fantasy-sports-league approach to collaboration.
The Hood Internet will be performing at Los Globos on Octobor 7th. Joining them will be Body Language, Kid Static, and Oscillator Bug. Be sure to check out their debut album, FEAT, and head to thehoodinternet.com for new mixes and reworks.

Early this Spring; Russian art punk activists, Pussy Riot, gave an impromptu performance of their anti-Putin love letter, Punk Prayer, at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. Three members of the group: Maria Alekhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, and Ekaterina Samucevich; were arrested shortly thereafter on the grounds of “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred or hostility.” In reality, the song was a direct response to the political agenda of Vladimir Putin, and challenges the already speculated corruption happening between the state and the Roman Orthodox Church. The three activists now stand trial and are facing up to seven years for their one minute demonstration of free speech.
On the eve of the verdict, a legion of avid supporters will be joining event producer, JD Samson (MEN/Le Tigre), in a special reading of the court room statements from the three members of Pussy Riot. The Free Pussy Riot event will take place in Liberty Hall at the Ace Hotel in New York City tomorrow, August 16, at 7:30pm. Chloe Sevigny, Eileen Myles, Karen Finley, Johanna Fateman, and Justin Vivian Bond are just a few of the confirmed readers with many more to be announced. Our favorite Journeyman, Juiceboxxx, has been deep in the Thunder Zone continually building his empire from the ground up with ambitious new releases and a radical new label format. An energy drink and press-on nails are just a taste of what the Thunder Zone has to offer, and while these are all very bizarre and progressive ideas coming from a man constantly overflowing with them, his latest release brings it all back to where it started, the music.
Yesterday, Juiceboxxx released the first music video for, Express Way To The Darkness, the latest from his new LP, I Don’t Want To Go Into The Darkness. While Juiceboxxx’s wonky, energetic flow is present throughout the album, Expressway focuses more on his DIY roots; with a driving, lo-fi garage sound that gets grungier as the track rages on. Don’t be mistaken though, the track holds up well with the rest of the albums high energy anthems, as his ever present hype and positive vibe thrives throughout the record.
Be sure to head to your local record store and get your copy of Juiceboxxx’s new LP, I Don’t Want To Go Into The Darkness, out now on Infinity Cat / Thunder Zone.
