Tomorrow night, things are about to get heavy at the Echoplex as Blundertown and IHEARTCOMIX present Agalloch, Taurus, and Oskoreien live. Since their inception in 1996, the cinematic metal of Agalloch has earned a reputation for being intense and visceral, combining black metal with elements of neo-folk and prog. Taurus on the other hand, create drone based, ambient darkeness that is haunting and dissonant. Oskoreien will be rounding out the bill with their lightning fast atmospherics. Be sure to get a good nights sleep because tomorrow is going to be triumphantly epic.

Tabor Robak’s visual accompaniment to Gatekeeper‘s latest release, EXO, aims to enhance the albums visceral qualities in this first person gaming experience. With each track comes its own immersive environment to explore, with high definition renders designed to match the evolution in sound between the horror pop relics of Gatekeeper’s last EP, Giza, with the more refined maximalism of, EXO. This multi-platform approach to the albums release is a truly unique audio / visual experiment that expands on the age old idea of getting “lost in the music.” There is even a downloadable font that will help users decode messages throughout the experience.

Composers Nick Weiss and Logan Takahashi have come a long way from their studies at Oberlin College. The pair more commonly known as, Teengirl Fantasy, have quickly risen to prominence with their debut LP, 7AM, having received praise from countless media sources; including XLR8R, Pitchfork, and FACT who all heralded the record as one of 2011′s best. On their latest album, Tracer, Teengirl Fantasy depart from the dense sample based arrangements of their infectious debut in exchange for their own sources; with sophisticated textures and constantly shifting ambience backed by an incredible lineup of special guests including Panda Bear, Romanthony (Voice of Daft Punk’s, One More Time), Laurel Halo, and Kelela. The result is a sprawling atmospheric collage of abstract pop that masks its eccentricity behind well calibrated textural elements and symphonic resolution.
Teengirl Fantasy will be performing at Los Globos this Saturday, August 11th. Joining them will be Gatekeeper, SFV Acid, and Slow Motion DJs. Be sure to pick up, Tracer, the sophomore release from Teengirl Fantasy, out August 21st on True Panther.

Coming up on September 14th, IHEARTCOMIX is pleased to return to the Bootleg Theater for another fuzzed out garage show. This time around, we are proud to feature two Kanine Records artists: Eternal Summers and Bleeding Rainbow who will be providing the evenings fulfillment of dreamy eyed indie rock and lo-fi drone pop; alongside the raw power of Australia’s, DZ Deathrays. Rounding out this off the cuff rock show will be Drug Cabin providing a hazy soundtrack for what is sure to be a very exciting evening.
