For our next selection, we take a venture back into the Thunder Zone where Juiceboxxx has just unleashed an internet rap posse remix of Pump It off the continually radical I Don’t Want to Go Into The Darkness LP. The remix features a mix of casual verses by Antwon, Kool A.D., Fat Tony, and Issue all before JB jumps back in the mix to close us out. If that wasn’t enough, Schwarz ties it all together with his hyped out positivity keeping your head banging throughout the mix.

Oh, and the video itself is a bunch of awkward party vibes and summertime pranks including a drunk guy driving a motorcycle upstairs inside a house and awkward white people dancing. Enjoy the remix, and be on the lookout for Juiceboxxx’s upcoming mixtape, Beyond Thunder Zone, coming in June.

London born producer David Kennedy may only be 25, but in the quarter century of his existence he’s created quite the range of music with equally intriguing characteristics, his most notable being Pearson Sound. Highly respected in the U.K. bass community, Kennedy effortlessly blends elements of dubstep, house, garage, and techno derived from both digital and analog sources. With a forward approach to music creation, Kennedy’s modern and intelligent processes have flourished into a complex body of work that is informed and well curated, whether that means his own work or the many other artists that fall under the umbrella of his label, Hessle Audio, which has released work from Jame Blake, Blawan, and many others.

Pearson Sound will be performing at the next OFF/CNTR on May 4th at Complex. Joining him will be Bok Bok, Grenier, R2M, and Queen Leaf. In the meantime, I urge you to check out this indepth discussion with Pearson Sound at the Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid where he touches on the balance between producing & djing, dubplate culture, and the effects of pirate radio on his youth.

Last night’s Check Yo Ponytail 2 was a truly historic event for music in Los Angeles. Secret guests Boys Noize, R.L. Grime, Shlohmo, Groundislava, Spaceghostpurrp and the entire RVDXR KLVN made this high energy show a special night for CYP2 fans. The Gaslamp Killer stepped up as emcee and blew our minds with epic selections and newly composed heaters that had the Echoplex sweating!
