British house music has a reputation for being innovative and eccentric, and it goes with out saying that DJ producer, Dave “SWITCH” Taylor is no exception. Formally one half of Major Lazer, Switch is the owner of British house label Dubsided. Created initially back in 2006, Dubsided acts as an outlet for promoting new underground talent and collaborations in addition to his own original work. Switch maintains the Dubsided policy of creating, “quality club music with an edge,” and his collaborations with artists such as Christina Aguilera, M.I.A., Amanda Blank, Brandy, Nicola Roberts and Beyoncé only go on to support that mentality.
Recently, Switch produced the new Santigold album Master of My Make-Believe that was released last year. Taylor’s house influence is certainly recognizable and with solid tracks like Santigold’s The Keepers it’s easy to see why Switch has become a highly sought after producer. As a DJ and musician, Switch’s latest track, I Still Love You featuring Andrea Martin, has become a club anthem that reinforces his place as a pioneer.
Tonight, Switch will perform at the debut of The Lot at Exchange LA in downtown. He will be performing alongside Digitalism, Classixx, and Rhythm Monks. In the meantime, check out this video of Switch performing with Boys Noize at the One Year Anniversary Party for CYP2 back in 2011. We’ll see you on the dancefloor!!!
