Tracks of the Week
Posted by Sean Oconnor 2 months ago in Music
It’s been pretty difficult keeping up with all the brand new music coming out this week. Today, we’re going to be sharing with you some of our favorite finds, including a few artists who you’ll want to keep on your radar; let’s jump in.
Although the full album hasn’t been released yet, Pusher has teased us with a preview of what’s to come. “Tell You,” featuring vocals from Hunnah, is a “shiny colourful” tune with a sped-up piano roll in the background that I swear reminds me a bit of the sample used in Mura Masa’s track, “Girl.” Regardless, we’re definitely looking forward to the expected album release on September 16th.
Vindata – Own Life (feat. Anderson .Paak) [Vindata VIP Mix]
If you’re not familiar with the name, Branden Ratcliff and Jared Poythress comprise the duo that is Vindata. The original music video for their track “Own Life” featuring Anderson .Paak was released on OWSLA and just recently reached one million views on YouTube. As part of the celebration, Vindata released the VIP mix to the track and it’s been an immediate favorite of mine. The soulful deep sounds on this track is what keeps me going through the week.
Stwo – Fill The Void feat. Amir Obe & Daniel Caesar
The new Stwo EP just released and it includes some incredible collaborations. The first of which is “Fill The Void,” featuring Toronto locals Amir Obe & Daniel Caesar. We had the privilege of hosting Stwo and some of the crew at a show a few months ago, and we hope to see him again soon. The full EP, D.T.S.N.T. is now available on iTunes and I highly recommend checking it out.
Robotaki – Ghostboy (feat. Claire Ridgely)
Robotaki originals are few and far between. Amidst the dozens of incredible remixes, this funky future bass original with vocals from Claire Ridgely will have you up and on your feet in no time. If this is the direction Robotaki is going for in 2016, I love it and can’t wait to hear more.
Popeska – I Believe
Our last track includes Popeska’s latest single “I Believe.” Popeska (aka Ralf) made his way onto the scene after his original track “Doing Me Wrong” garnered an immense reach on SoundCloud. That was when I first discovered him, and immediately fell in love with the track. We hope to hear more from this artist and we recommend keeping him on your radar.
