If you have fantastic speakers, here’s a suggestion: lay on the floor, play your favorite bass-heavy song, and enjoy the added sensation of the music vibrating against your back to your music listening. I disregard my roommates’ demands to turn down my music and my doctor’s about my chronic tinnitus because the physicality of the beat of a track will always be my favorite part about music.
Here are some tracks that will give you a good back massage after a long day of work:
1) Badbadnotgood – “Late Night Tales Sampler”:
BADBADNOTGOOD finally has a Late Night Tales mix! To be released on July 28th, 2017, LNS released a sampler mix of eclectic features on the project. There are plenty of heavy jazz syncopations, funky riffs, and soulful sounds to dance to.
2. Shabazz Palaces ft. Thundercat – “Since C.A.Y.A”:
Lately, I’ve been drawn to Shabazz Palaces for his unique rap style and even more experimental beats; we can thank Thundercat for this one. The layered vocal effects mixed with improvised bass licks are all the dark vibes of a great track and added laser beam give it a touch of awesomeness.
3. Lord RAJA – “Barrel”:
I actually found out about this song through Ghostly International’s twitter the other day. Lord RAJA released his Amadeus EP through the label and damn the entire project is outstanding. “Barrel” stood out to me the most for its deep and heavy bass but I’d recommend listening to the entire EP.
4. Hanna – “Punk”:
Hanna aka Warren Harris released his newest project, The Never End EP exclusively on Vinyl. Although I didn’t snag one, “Punk” is everything I need right now. It’s funky, it’s simple, yet it’s catchy beat commands your attention, transporting the listener to a 90s warehouse party.
5. Love Theme (Alex Zhang Hungtai of Dirty Beaches) – “Desert Exile”:
Alex Zhang Hungtai of Dirty Beaches new project Love Theme just released “Desert Exile”, for their upcoming self-titled debut. The drone acts as a base as the two instruments dance away in improvised melodies.
