Universal Pictures: Truth or Dare

Universal Pictures brought IHC onboard to assist with Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare promotional campaign

IHC produced a fake escape room as a vehicle to capture a promotional prank video for Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare. Set up within Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles, CA, we transformed a former storefront into a three-room experience within three days.

The promotional video was released on social media via the cast and film accounts during opening weekend.

The activation featured various actors that lead groups of unsuspecting fans into what they thought was a traditional game of truth or dare. In a final twist, the game was revealed to be a set up and participants were scared out of their minds. The principle cast from the film, Lucy Hale and Tyler Posey, performed in the stunt directly.

IHC produced the filming of the video as well as the event. Staged over three rooms were seven cameras and audio, all meant to get the best content hidden camera style. We brought in Kitao Sakurai, Director of The Eric Andre Show, to direct. The result was a scream-by-the-second video.

In addition, the experience featured merch giveaways and a fan photo booth the manipulated the users face into a demonic grin.
