A few weeks ago, CYP2 all-star Blood Orange broke his silence and treated us to his new song, Chamakay. While most covers tend to depreciate the value of the original, Brooklyn’s Narcisse (Le Chev from AVAN LAVA) breathes new life into the piece that just can’t be denied. Narcisse has turned the relatively moderate pacing and moody tonality of the original into a positive house track alluding to the glamour pop of early 90s dance. Tie it all together with AVAN LAVA bandmate TC lending his pitch perfect vocal talents to the track, and you have a vibrant, silky, pop confection that is simply irresistible.
