Last Tuesday, was a very special Halloween edition of Check Yo Ponytail 2 and the bill could not have been more fitting as DEATH descended on the Los Angeles for a historic performance. Supported by Tijuana Panthers, Obliterations and Tony Molina, the hard rock was nonstop as slews of bloody nurses and second rate superheroes filed into the dark depths of the Echoplex. Tony Molina’s band came barrelling out of the gate with an energy fueled set that gained more than a few fans. Post hardcore punkers, Obliterations, brought the pain with tracks from their recent self-titled record that had thrashers in the pit. Long Beach natives, Tijuana Panthers, added a nice change of pace with surf rock tunes from their latest album Semi Sweet, building the anticipation for the coming of DEATH. The innovators of punk were greeted with applause before playing a note and were gracious to the CYP crowd throughout their vivacious set.
