The close out your afternoon, i’ll leave you with this incredibly dreamy and pleasant video from Jorge Elbrose, the joint venture between Violens frontman Jorge Elbrecht and Ariel Pink. The video below features the track, Called to Ring, a washed out soliloquy masked by aggressive waves of reverb, but with a framework very reminiscent of Violens that still manages to stay afloat.
The video looks as dense as it sounds with an encapsulating haze and enough kaleidoscopically multiplying guitars / guitar players to keep you both fascinated and dizzy. There are something like five guitarists, two drummers, and keyboardist and what looks like what the MCP’s brothers would resemble had they built multiple partions in the original TRON. It’s basically the shoegaze TRON.
Called to Ring can be found as part of the Mexican Summer: Five Years book and 10″ compilation LP, celebrating the labe’ls recent anniversary with contributions from many of their talented artists and family including Spiritualized, Autre Ne Veut, and many others. It’s also my understanding that the only way to get the song is with the book, which is a one time only pressing. I’m pretty sure Mount Analog might be able to help you out.
