Four years had past since Bristol’s Benjamin John Power, and Andrew Hung released an album, so when their new LP Slow Focus debuted it was evident the duo had grown musically but maintained their masterful composition. Now on tour, Fuck Buttons have been sharing their new sound across the U.S. and Canada and to a whirlwind of support. In anticipation of their upcoming west coast dates, Fuck Buttons have blessed us with a new hour long Tour Mix that provides insight into their eclectic musical taste as well as thier fascination with soundscape.
The Mix debuted on Noisey last week and combines a grouping of unlikely artists to create a mix that is truly unique. Ben of Fuck Buttons notes, “You can explore the limits of your craft and skill with an instrument, and that is what a lot of musicians do, but it’s not what we’re interested in,” he adds, “We’re more interested in the sonic capabilities of a certain—anything. That’s the thing, it could be anything.” A melodious and ethereal intro gives way to minimal noise driven tracks that evolve into dark techno before letting us down easy with ambient tones and classic tracks. Peep the diverse track listing after the jump including songs from touring partner Total Life, along with Prince, Chopin, and a farewell track from Scott Walker among others. Listen to their new Tour Mix and pick up tickets to see them live at El Rey Theatre this Thursday, June 26th!
