Exclusive Premiere: Nevermind debuts ‘Part One’ EP + Interview!

We’ve seen a influx of talented and seasoned veteran producers collaborating on some ground breaking new projects recently to the benefit of all. This is why we are especially excited to hear the debut EP from newly formed production duo Nevermind, comprised of Los Angeles based producers Petey Clicks and Grenier. Both bring extensive experience to the production and between them have released for labels including Tectonic, Melodic, Symbols, Party Like Us, and Embassy, just to name a few. Today, Nevermind premieres their Part One EP out officially July 29th via Trouble & Bass Records.

Nevermind

Upon first listen, Part One grips you without hesitation throwing you head long into a mix of U.K. grime, bass, and techno. Heckno is an otherworldly dancefloor beast that’s equal parts metallic melody, insanity-inducing buildups, and half-time drops that will warp your mind. The dark, almost spooky beats induce a suspenceful sensory overload that creeps over you as the bass vibrates your very vitals. The B-side Arrowloop is 100 tons of black, dripping swamp bass, gunshot snares, and ghastly ambiance overlaid with mutant acid synths known to exorcise the darkest of demons. Stay tuned for many more originals from Nevermind in the next couple months and make sure you grab their fire-hot mixtape and huge refixes of everyone from Schoolboy Q to Wiley. Stream the new Part One EP and read the exclusive interview with Nevermind below!

Individually you’re Petey Clicks and Dean Grenier, together Nevermind. What can tell you tell us about this new project and you’re debut EP Part One?

Nevermind is a somewhat secret project we have been working on for the last year. Dean is busy making techno and I have been making house/garage – Nevermind is an outlet for us to explore other genres.

You’re Part One EP will be released on one of our favorite NY labels Trouble & Bass! Was this just a natural fit for you guys?

We’ve been friends with the T&B crew for a long time. It’s very exiting to be a part of the family finally!

Dare I ask about, Part Two?

Part Two and Part Three will be coming out soon on Trouble & Bass. We also have a mixtape containing a bunch of our material and 8 bootlegs we will be releasing periodically for free -the first of which is already available on our soundcloud.

Has the collaboration developed naturally or was there a specific sound you were searching from the very beginning?

Dean and I are really good buds. This project began as kind of a test to see if we could make anything worthwhile together but turned into something much bigger.

You both bring a wealth of experience to the table. What are the certain strengths you each bring into the production?

Dean is a great big picture engineer type dude. He can make everything sound amazing and structure it all together perfectly. I do a lot of the writing and sketches then he polishes them into a finished product.

Has collaborating in the studio shed light on any new discoveries in production or otherwise?

I’ve learned a lot from Dean about the importance of variation in structure. My music tends to be a little bit more loopy and Dean has taught me a ton about breaking up the monotony with edits and shit.

When do we get to see Nevermind mixing it up for the fans?

We are gonna be playing in NYC for Trouble & Bass at Verboten August 16th with the legendary DJ EZ.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing Nevermind play a hometown show soon. Thanks so much for taking the time!
