Sundance NEXT FEST officially kicks off this Thursday, and we couldn’t be more excited to check out all of these incredible films as well as a few fine performances from Father John Misty, Tinashe and War Paint! One of the films, Listen Up Philip, is written and directed by Alex Ross Perry and stars Jason Schwartzman from Bored to Death and recently The Grand Budapest Hotel. In this modern screenplay, Perry explores the plight of young and successful writer who makes his own mistakes and endures seemingly self-inflicted misery, affecting the people he cares about the most.
Set in the heart of New York City, Philip begins to alienate his girlfriend, her sister, his idol, his idol’s daughter, and all the ex-girlfriends and enemies that lie in wait on the open streets of the Big Apple. Wrought with dark humor, this cautionary tale of how artistic integrity and blind arrogance can eventually lead to loss and regret. The all-star cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Elisabeth Moss, Jonathan Pryce, Krysten Ritter, and Joséphine de La Baume whose honest portrayals bring this film to life. The Sundance NEXT FEST screening of Listen Up Philip will be this coming Saturday, August 9th at 4:45pm at the Ace Hotel and will be followed by a brief Q&A with actor Jason Schwartzman, Director Alex Ross Perry and famed author Brett Easton Ellis.
