While coping with the loss of their son to the war in Afghanistan, the Peterson family is pleasantly surprised when an unexpected visitor arrives on their door step. The young man claims he has come to fulfill a promise made to the Peterson’s fallen son to look after the family. He is welcomed into the home with open arms but as people start mysteriously dying in the town, the Peterson’s daughter starts to wonder if the new guest is responsible.
Coming off the success of 2013’s hit indie slasher flick, You’re Next, director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett are back with a mind bending psychological thriller, The Guest. The film stars English actor Dan Stevens, known for his role in Downton Abbey, as the houseguest, David. With positive reception at Sundance and SXSW already this year, The Guest is set to make its last film festival appearance at Sundance NEXT Fest before its wide release in September. Following the screening on Sunday will be a conversation and Q&A with the filmmakers and breakout Danish director, Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive and Only God Forgives).
