Yesterday, early reports of Nicky Da B’s death were eventually confirmed by the charismatic performer’s management. The statement reads, “It is with heaviness in our hearts today that we confirm the passing of Nicky Da B. Nicky was a beautiful soul and we will always be grateful for his magnetic personality and loving spirit. We were inspired by his talent as much as his tireless optimism, compassion and humility. Our condolences go out to his family at this time.” Known best for his viral collaboration Express Yourself with Mad Decent producer and founder Diplo, Nicky Da B continued to push boundaries and perpetuate New Orleans bounce music.
Fellow bounce artist and spokesperson, Big Freedia offered her condolensces giving credibility to the upsetting news tweeting, “I’m truly at a loss for words at the news that my friend + fellow Bounce artist @NickyDaB has passed away. #toomanyfunerals R.I.P NickyDaB.” We remember Nicky Da B’s vivacious performances in 2012 at Los Globos and at SXSW in Austin, Texas. It’s difficult to know how to remember such a bright and shining star once the light has faded but I assure you, Nicky’s attitude on life will carry on through the music. Thanks for the Memories Nicky, you’ll be sorely missed.
