OOFJ’s new single “I Forgive You” is dark, intense, and not for innocent ears
After premiering “Snakehips” in June and “You’re Always Good” back in November, OOFJ have released their third single to humanity, “I Forgive You” off their upcoming LP Acute Feast (out April 21 on Ring The Alarm / Fake Diamond). It’s a dark, lush piece of music that starts out all forlorn and teary-eyed, then self-implodes into, oh, about three good minutes of forceful synth, intense drums, cinematic strings and clear, gentle vocals that contrast with the instrumental density. Near the end, the song collapses and envelopes itself.
“It’s a tale about perfect beings, aliens, and being imperfect,” says OOFJ on their Soundcloud page. Imperfect perfect aliens is exactly what this song sounds like.
In case you were pining for intel, OOFJ is Jenno Bjørnkjær and Katherine Mills-Rymer, an L.A.-based duo who met in New York City while Bjørnkjær was working on music for Lars Von Trier’s ‘Melancholia’. Sparks flew both above and below the belt for the couple, who eventually began collaborating on a collection of haunting electro-pop that moves like molasses and feels like whatever having slow motion sex in velvet-encrusted sex lair feels like. Which is good, we assume. Can’t be un-good.
No tour dates announced right now for OOFJ, but we’re crossing all our fingers and toes they’ve got something in the works following their April album release.
