Listening to The Weeknd is like devouring a cornucopia of aphrodisiacs in a sauna filled swingers who all look like your gym teacher … you just can’t get any sexier. But Weeknd remixes are like the cherries on top of that oyster-strawberry-champagne infused mess. They just make things better.
With all that said, it’s been a month since The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” was officially released, and JayKode decided it was high time for a reimagining – a rendition that you can simultaneously get down to, but get down to, you know what I mean?
It’s incredibly immersive; the percussion is overwhelming in that perfect, future-bass type of way. The synths are hitting all the right spots. The production is lush and penetrating. There’s more going on sonically than a Roman orgy. I think I might be pregnant.
JayKode, you ARE the father.
“I imagine people listening to this with the windows down at night driving down PCH,” JayKode told me over email. I can picture that, too. High beams on, 80 MPH, and the chick you picked up at that seemingly classy club you went to earlier – emphasis on seemingly – has decided that the wind whipping her hair wasn’t enough, so she’s pulled off her crop top, and her bare breasts are glowing in the 2 AM moonlight.
It’s romantic, to be honest, but also horny.
