If you’ve got a sweet tooth like me (although my sweet tooth involves consuming four donuts at once so maybe not like mine), you might want to “Ruins,” indie pop singer Ryder‘s new single that dropped this week.
This is only her second single, but even this early on in her career, it gives you a sense of her eventual legacy of clear-cut, saccharine vocals. However, unlike her first song “Pretty Little Gangster” (which is also rad and boasts 330k+ listens on Soundcloud), “Ruins” is a more somber tune; murky, sentimental, but still powerful in the delivery of its message: “I won’t return to the ruins.” Ouch. Sounds a little rough. My guess? Break-up from that brooding Johnny-Depp-circa-1990s type? Been there. Johnny Depp LOVES me.
Both songs that the LA-based songstress has released thus far are impressive pop feats, and already show a versatility in her sound. So we’re a little excited to see what else she decides to release in the coming months. Until then, we’ll keep refreshing her Soundcloud. Check out “Pretty Little Gangster” down below.
