This year’s Sundance NEXT FEST lineup was already stacked and intentionally more endearingly weird than previous years, but the festival has just announced a slew of new additions to the lineup that really up the ante.

Three music videos world premieres, a brand new virtual reality experience program and a youth talent show have now been added to the festival alongside short film screenings hosted by Nick Kroll, musical performances from artists like Big Freedia, and the Los Angeles premieres of some of the most talked-about films from this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

MUSIC VIDEOS

“Best to You” – Blood Orange

Lorely Rodriguez of Empress Of stars alongside Amanda Stenberg in this hopeful vision of love and belonging set atop the backdrop of modern anxieties. The track is from “Freetown Sound,” Dev Hynes’ third album as Blood Orange. Directed by Luke Gilford and choreographed by Emma Portner, “Best to You” will screens at noon Saturday, before Morris From America.

“Annie’ – Neon Indian

Alan Palomo’s vibrant electro-pop ballad materializes in the frantic chase of a girl named Annie who’s gone missing. Screens on Saturday afternoon, right before the L.A. premiere of White Girl.

“Beautiful People” – Mark Pritchard feat. Thom Yorke

Just before the Sunday screening of Iranian horror film Under the Shadow, NEXT FEST will screen the video for Pritchard’s achingly gorgeous track. Directed by Mark Marczak, winner of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival award for World Cinema Documentary: Director for All These Sleepless Nights, the video showcases a mysterious stranger’s exploration of a new world.

VR LINEUP AND GOOGLE CARDBOARD GIVEAWAY

NEXT FEST has just announced a curated slate of 12 mobile VR experiences which will represent some of the most exciting examples of independent narrative and documentary VR storytelling in these modern times.

YOUNG FEMALE FILMMAKERS CREATE FESTIVAL TRAILER

Three young female filmmakers have joined forces to create the irreverent, atmospheric festival trailer for Sundance NEXT FEST. Courtney Jines (director), Tara Clune (motion graphics) and Kayla Briët (music) all collaborated on the trailer, which will screen before each film.  All three women are part of the Institute’s Ignite Fellows Program, which offers 18-to-24-year-old artists year-round mentorship and industry experiences. The live action sequence stars Hannah Marks and Rhoda Pell. Watch the trailer right here, right now:

YOUTH GROUPS FOR MORRIS FROM AMERICA TALENT SHOW

Right after Saturday’s screening of Morris from America, NEXT FEST has invited three young talent groups to take the stage for a talent show hosted by Craig Robinson, who also stars in the film.

• 826LA, with a reading. 826LA is a non-profit organization that supports students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills.
• Inner-City Arts, with a dance routine. Inner-City Arts is an arts education provider in the heart of Skid Row, and works to create a safer, healthier Los Angeles.
• Stones Throw Records, with live beat-making. Stones Throw Records is an American independent music label based in Los Angeles and was founded by DJ Peanut Butter Wolf.
• Venice Arts, with a short film screening. Venice Arts is a nonprofit organization that ignites, expands and transforms the lives of Los Angeles’ low-income youth through photography and film education.
