For two years, L.A. Girlfriend has been breaking hearts and falling in love with anything or anyone that inspires her, fighting her way to understand who she is and where she’s going. Aside from her affinity for baking cupcakes while listening to Joy Division, one of the things that make L.A. Girlfriend special is the unfiltered presentation of her creation process. For years, she has documented her artistic development through Neon Grey, a sort of video diary that highlights the process from writing and recording to performing at shows. As time rolls forward, her sound has matured from the innocent computer pop of her early singles to include more analog components that add an organic depth to her digital infrastructure.
For all of us, the idea of cataloging your progress can often be telling in ways that most artists wouldn’t dare allow us to see, but L.A. Girlfriend doesn’t hesitate to charm her way into our hearts, leaving you to latch on each step of the way. Check out the teaser for L.A. Girlfriend’s debut LP, Viva, and listen to the first track from the album titled, Valentine.
