The new music video for “Endless Fantasy,” Anamanaguchi’s title track, has already become famous for sending a slice of pizza into space. It makes for a great addition to the video but didn’t happen without careful planning and consultation. Yesterday, MOTHERBOARD, dedicated to the intersection of science and humans, debuted “Spaced Out: Space Pizza” a behind the scenes look at the making of the Anamanaguchi’s intergalactic endeavor.

The mini-doc examines the process these chip tuners took to accomplish their mission in a safe but effective way. They reached out to physics and science expert Dylan Wolf to guide them on their journey. After a postponed initial launch they’re able to find a perfect location for lift off, but recovering footage of the voyage once the greasy slice of cheese returns to Earth still remained a challenge. I never thought I’d be so invested in the life of a slice, but found myself genuinely moved by the end of the doc. Watch the video below for an inside look!
