Skrillex has a pretty normcore new video out, and guess what? It stars an amalgamation of all your chillest boyfriends!
The video– directed by French duo Fleur & Manu and produced by Vice– is the visual for Doompy Poomp, a sonic confection that Skrillex describes as “more of a joke [he] made a while ago” than a song. So, don’t get too excited for your boyfriend and his big Hollywood break; Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites this is not.
In fact, “a lot of [Skrillex’s] fans don’t get this song and a lot of them hate” it, he tells The Creator’s Project. Yeesh! Guess your boyfriend’s MFA from Julliard isn’t quite opening the doors y’all thought it would.
On the plus side, he does have a new pet name for you now. “Oh Doompy Poomp, I love you,” he murmurs.
Also, most importantly, is that Shaq playing the security guard? We know it’s not … but is it?
All jokes about Shaq and your boo aside, it’s a pretty sweet vid, for a song with a name no grownup should ever have to type. The Creator’s Project has all the zany deets HERE.
While you’re here, take a moment to fondly remember when this rascal popped up at a couple of Check Yo Ponytail‘s Two Year Anniversary parties in 2012:
