Whether you’re a club kid or a shut-in, TR/ST‘s new single Slug is a love at first listen kind of song. The dark-wave-synth-goth sound is propulsive and, for lack of a better word, big; it would take next to nothing to remix it for the EDM masses. But the emotions evoked are intensely personal, recalling so many times that you’ve needed to be by yourself in the middle of the night: Driving home after a breakup, wandering away from a campfire, closing your eyes on a crowded dance floor. It’s no wonder that TR/ST is a musical solo mission, undertaken by one Robert Alfons, a slender, broody looking Canadian who once described his sonic inspiration as “all the little blooms that creep within” and trust as “an absolutely terrifying idea.”
