If there was ever an ally in Death’s corner, it would have to be the internet. Previously, we touched on how the band never got their day in the 70’s due to either the abrasiveness, their color, or their name. Every Death song, not to mention their late brother David’s legacy could have been forgotten forever, but wasn’t. Why?
Because the internet. 30 years after Death, in the age of information one lone Death single posted to a message board became the catalyst for Death’s rise from the grave. None of the issues that inhibited them in the 70’s were a factor anymore. The internet has led us to connect with people of like minded interests from anywhere in the world, with the music industry catering to the most diverse tastes and sounds that have ever been made. There was never any doubt that Death’s music was iconic, it was the rest of the world that needed to catch up.
Black History Month with the story of Death continues on with part four coming up on IHC TV. In the meantime, enjoy my favorite Death track performed live at Check Yo Ponytail, Let The World Turn.
