The reemergence of disco, while welcome, is not solely due to the shiny disco robots but also a yearning for the big sound of live instrumentation that is rarely seen amongst 4 and 5 piece bands. Brooklyn’s 17 piece disco orchestra, ESCORT, on the other hand has become a disco tour de force earning the title of “New York’s best live band” from the NY Post and Timeout NY. The band was founded by producers Eugene Cho and Dan Balis, and is fronted by lead singer Adeline Michèle whose soulful vocals match the funky sounds of her supporting orchestra.
Escort has certainly been picking up steam in recent months but has a solid discography prior to the hype of a disco revolution. Their latest single Barbarians is a powerhouse and has already been remixed by the likes of CSS and Tiger & Woods. Watch their recent in studio performance of Bright New Light for Live on Soundcheck at WNYU.
Pick up your tickets and head out to Check Yo Ponytail 2 on August 20th to get down with Escort, Pharaohs, Secret Circuit, and Nightbox at the Echoplex. Prepare to be wowed by a 17-piece disco orchestra that doesn’t disappoint.
