If you were paying attention last year, our good friend and hero Juiceboxxx took on a very ambitious challenge; one that truly tested the limits of his character, as well as his sanity. I am of course referring to the recently concluded State of the Thunder Zone series, a weekly vlog he poured his soul into, raw and uncut every Sunday for an entire year.
Let’s look past the content for a minute and just reflect on the dedication and integrity one must have to maintain doing anything for an entire year. I did my best to always support the Juiceman every week here on IHC, but falling into a darkness of my own prevented me from keeping up. Nothing can stop Juiceboxxx though and anyone that can harness the tenacity it takes to be as raw and genuine as JB has my eternal respect.
In the final installment, Juiceboxxx insists on not going out with a bang and keeping it 100% real. It’s never been about spectacle. It’s never been about him celebrating life. Instead, it’s always been about the struggle for what you believe in and the struggle to survive.
There’s one statement from his last address that sticks out to me particularly. While I understand that the emotional obstacles involved with broadcasting your raw emotions to the world would lead one to doubt themselves, I have to disagree with him on the fact that, “it’s not going to get good now.” Truth is, it IS good, it ALWAYS has been good, and it DOES matter. The media world has always been thirsty to capture that intimate moment of whatever artist they deem worth following, but they are looking at it all backwards. Instead of searching for those supposedly “genuine” moments from artists who tend to fabricate their presence, why aren’t we seeking out the artists and creators that are unapologetically themselves? These are the people that inspire. These are the true artists that perpetuate humanity and culture.
In memoriam of State of the Thunder Zone, IHC TV is very proud to present Juiceboxxx performing Never Surrender Forever, the grand finale from his set at a sold out Check Yo Ponytail last year. Alongside his California Dreams Band, Juiceboxxx climbs down from the rafters for one more display of his severely underrated and misunderstood genius. Regardless of whether or not he’s your particular cup of tea, his message is and will always be universal. Keep following those fucked up dreams and never EVER fucking surrender.
