We recieved more exciting news about Sundance’s upcoming NEXT FEST that will kick off next Thursday! Yesterday, The Fader announced the world premiere of Kendrick Lamar’s short film m.A.A.d., directed by Kahlil Joseph. The film captures a stirring portrait of the sights sounds and faces of Lamar’s South Central neighborhood. The short film will debut August 9th at the Ace Hotel DTLA following the screening of Imperial Dreams and preceding a live performance from Tinashe! Director, Kahlil Joseph has already wowed audiences winning the Sundance Award for his work with Flying Lotus on “Until The Quiet Comes,” and will fortunately be available for a brief Q&A about the new short m.A.A.d. after the screening. Sundance praises Joseph’s work noting, “Director Kahlil Joseph creates a kaleidoscope of storylines and ideas that defy typical categorization to explore new languages and new forms.” Tickets for the screening are still available but won’t last long for this historic event merging film and music.
