Yesterday, Kim Moyes, of The Presets, was featured in Thump’s “Crate Expectations” series that includes an innovative 30 minute mix from the mult-instrumentalist. The mix manifests as an exploration into the experimental possibilities of sound incorporating techno with subtle hints of grime and industrial roots. Kim speaks candidly in the thump interview about his solo project K.I.M. noting, “I felt I had good tunes that weren’t necessarily fitting into the Presets repertoire, so I just found a home for them and was lucky enough to get them out to the public…. It can be more club orientated or more ambient in focus than the Presets generally is.” The mix is a prime example of  this with ambient beats ocassionally lead by vocal whispers that prove intimate and energizing.
