Last week, Norwegian disco dudes Lemaitre released their highly anticipated fourth EP Singularity worldwide and are now touring the U.S. sharing their unique sounds with the masses. Ketil Jansen and Ulrik Denizou Lund maintain the careful curation of their music by writing songs that aren’t necessarily about the generic subjects of love or the party, but instead infuse their passion for science into their intricate lyrics. Noticably different than some of their previous EPs, Singularity still soars with powerful piano keys, and magical melodies.
Their leading single High Tide has been wildly popular attracting over half a million plays on Soundcloud in the past four months. While it’s easy to carried away with their provacative instrumentation, it’s the original lyrics that set them apart from the rest. Already recieving reworks from fellow Scandinavians Oliver Nelson and Tobtok, as well as Avenue, we expect High Tide is only the first of many remixes to sprout from the Singularity EP.
Recruiting the luscious vocals of LOLO, Lemaitre have delivered a decadent disco track with Wait. The highlight of this dance single are the fluttering guitar riffs and infectious builds that transform into futuristic drops. Lemaitre transition seamlessly into Go, that leans more toward indie electro with tinges of pop that make this light and airy single a fun filled rollercoaster ride. Last but certainly not least, Lemaitre flex some west coast vibes with All I Need featuring Chuck Inglish. Fuzzy reverb giveway to synth chords and jazzy guitar solos, as Chuck drops in with his mellow verse adding an element of R&B to this funky track. Lemaitre’s Singularity EP not only shows their production prowess but also gives promise to their longevity. Stream the full EP and pick up tickets for their show at the Echoplex on August 8th alongside Penthouse Penthouse, Dead Times, and Lassi!
