We are so honored to announce that IHEARTCOMIX has joined the team for the upcoming MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. documentary to manage the creative marketing and partnerships for the film. This Monday, we had the pleasure of bringing Los Angeles an advanced screening of the award-winning MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. Documentary at the beautiful Theatre at the Ace Hotel in Downtown LA. Drawn from a cache of personal video recordings shot by Maya and her closest friends over the last 22 years, MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. captures Maya’s remarkable journey from refugee teenager in London to international critically acclaimed artist M.I.A. The film provides unparalleled, intimate access to the artist as she battles with the music industry and mainstream media as her success and fame explodes, becoming one of the most recognizable, outspoken and provocative voices in music today. Watch the trailer below.
After an insightful post-screening Q&A with M.I.A. and director Steve Loveridge, the celebration continued onto the Ace Hotel rooftop bar for the after party with Mad Decent’s Paul Devro. We had a great time dancing with our pals Diplo, Eric Andre and more.
Huge thanks to M.I.A and Cinereach for having us be a part of such a special and moving project! Thank you to WeTransfer for sponsoring the event as well.
Catch the incredible MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. documentary in theaters starting September 28th. Find tickets here.
