On a unseasonably warm November night in Los Angeles independent record label Ninja Tune hosted it’s 25 year anniversary celebration at the newly renovated Globe Theater with the same stealthy vibes they’ve been known for since it’s founding. Tickets sold out early on and the only way to gain access after that was through Jukely.
The night gave a new perspective on electronic dance music by bringing the focus on the atmosphere in the room, taken to the next level with amazing visuals by Brainfeeder collaborator, Strange Loop. Sage Caswell, Sepalcure, and Leon Vynehall got the crowd pumped with garage, house, & bass. The real surprise was Jon Hopkins playing a rare live set of distorted, aggressively heavy ambient sounds. Headliner and Ninja Tune veteran since 2003, Bonobo, finished off the night with a blend of chillwave, afrobeats, & complex basslines.
We couldn’t imagine a better birthday party for Ninja Tune.
