Portland has been outpouring a host of new producers and musicians lately and Dan Vidmar’s project Shy Girls is certainly a standout talent worthy of your new playlist. Working days at an emergency room, Vidmar returns to his loft in PDX’s Eastside industrial district to hone his sultry pop-R&B into those magical morning hours. An intregal part of the growing R&B resurgence, he stands apart from the herd of “avant-R&B” artists thanks to his crystal clear production. The tenderness of his art is never submerged in the muck and mire of dissonance, making for a refreshing and universally alluring listen!
Shy Girls new Timeshare EP, released in October via Hit City, is a testament to the earnest and careful composition of his songs. Six tracks of sexy saxophone infused bliss, standouts include Second Heartbeat, Still Not Falling, and Under Attack. Expect to hear more mystic and moody tunes from Shy Girls as Vidmar recently released a crooning cover of Brandy’s Sittin’ Up In My Room that combines our love of the 90’s with contemporary production.
Watch Shy Girls heartfelt delivery of Under Attack for Into The Woods TV and make sure to see their live performance at Bootleg Theater on April 15th. Joined by Chrome Sparks and Chela, this show will be a sure sellout so don’t sleep on these tickets and pick up Shy Girls new Timeshare EP below!
