We’ve been keen on Dum Dum Girl, Sandra Vu’s side project, SISU, for quite some time now. Ever since Sharp Teeth came out a few years ago, we knew there was something there. Thankfully, Vu has had some time off from the girls to regroup and put out a brand new EP called, Light Eyes, a release that has been carefully thought out from the first reverberating guitar chords all the way down to their hand screenprinted and individually numbered vinyl.
Two Thousand Hands, the first single off of Light Eyes, is a everything a shoegaze dream should be. Lush and fragile hopelessness elevates this synth tinged selection to a new height, convincing many shoegazers to look towards the sky and revel in the downpour of washed out sonics. Vu’s angelic yearning blends seamlessly within the songs casual architecture while the video acts as a kaleidoscopic window into the bands visceral radiance.
SISU’s debut EP, Light Eyes, is available now via MONO PRISM. In the meantime, check out SISU on IHC TV making their CYP2 debut almost two years ago where they performed alongside Metronomy and Night Jewel. My, how time flys.
