My feelings and brain are all over the place after watching the mind melting visuals in this week’s videos. You’ll know what I mean soon enough.
Catch some ooey gooey, buttery videos from King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard with Mild High Club, Iglooghost, Corbin, Caleb Kunle and more!
1. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard with Mild High Club – “Countdown”:
The only thing more melty than the vocals on this track are the oozy visuals. A simple yet beautiful ‘goo-like’ animation that you wish would keep on going and going… Alas, everything comes to an end.
2. METZ – “Cellophane”:
All eyes on you. METZ’ video for “Cellophane” is an unexplained world filled with floating eyeballs, mac ‘n’ cheese, and an angry octopus. Don’t question it, just watch it.
3. Iglooghost: “Sōlar Blade”:
Iglooghost’s video for “Sōlar Blade” features colorful jelly creatures floating amongst cute clouds and flying fruit.
4. ZHU & NERO – “Dreams”:
ZHU & NERO’s video for “Dreams” feels like an actual representation of what hell is like 24/7. It’s kind of like the Spark-notes version of “Dante’s Inferno”.
5. Corbin – “Hunker Down”:
I went to see Corbin (aka Spooky Black) recently, and it changed my life for the better. I am more in love with him than I was before. Corbin’s video for “Hunker Down” throws back to his old iconic music videos of him roaming around the forest in the middle of nowhere. He has the voice of an angel.
6. Jonti – “Sleeping and Falling”:
Jonti is back and he’s hit us with an infusion of psychedelic soul with a hint of hip hop. His video for “Sleeping and Falling” has a smooth aesthetic vibe that makes me want to kick back in a hammock.
7. Caleb Kunle – “Eden”:
I am extremely happy I came across this one. Caleb Kunle’s lava lamp visuals for “Eden” mix so well with vocals.
8. Isle of Dogs Trailer
Dogs, stop motion, and Wes Anderson. What more could ya want?
