How we helped Adult Swim Festival get in front of 5.3 million+ people!
For the second year in a row, Adult Swim brought IHEARTCOMIX onboard to conceptualize and execute social media and marketing support for Adult Swim Festival. IHC produced an in-depth URL to IRL Scavenger Hunt, hosted a Weekly Sweepstakes, leveraged social media and newsletter placements, and executed event calendar/ forum listings.
SCAVENGER HUNT
The highlight of our campaign was a county-wide Scavenger Hunt that helped us increase visibility in the local market and incentivize last minute ticket sales. IHC partnered with 12 carefully chosen retail locations to hide golden tickets in their store for fans to find. Partners included Smorgasburg, A Shop Called Quest, Honey & Butter, Button Mash, and more.
Partners were instructed to post hints on social media related to the lineup or Adult Swim shows. This created promotion for the festival in a fun, organic, and engaging way. IHC then created daily clues to post via the @adultswimpresents account for fans to use to decipher each day’s location. Fans were engaged throughout the two week hunt, with one even saying “I can barely contain my excitement waiting for the next scavenger hunt clues to drop.”
WEEKLY SWEEPSTAKES
IHC also produced a Weekly Sweepstakes, hosted on IHEARTCOMIX.com, to help Adult Swim capture data and opt-in emails.
For four weeks, we awarded one lucky winner two Micro-Prestige passes to the festival along with an Adult Swim prize pack. In the fifth and final week of the sweepstakes, we awarded one winner with two Prestige Plus passes to the festival as well as a Grand Prize pack.
IHEARTCOMIX promoted the sweepstakes across the IHC social channels as well as through Adult Swim-related subreddits, forums, discords, and more. As a bonus, Eric Andre also supported the sweepstakes via Twitter and IG Stories.
MEDIA PLACEMENTS AND LISTINGS
In order to maximize awareness of the lineup and drive ticket sales to the festival, IHC coordinated media placements through the exchange of tickets to the festival and listed the event on all major event calendars. We also secured several social media posts and giveaways, newsletter placements, and website contests from various partners whose audiences overlapped with the Adult Swim fanbase including a multi-tiered partnership with Amoeba Records.
