IHEARTCOMIX partnered with Adult Swim to amplify the festival to an international audience. Our campaign had a social reach of over 2 billion people.
For the third year in a row, Adult Swim brought IHEARTCOMIX onboard to conceptualize and execute social media and marketing support for Adult Swim Festival. Given that 2020’s COVID-restrictions forced the festival to be exclusively online, IHC created concepts that leaned into this unique opportunity to engage a global audience, unrestricted by a festival’s physical location. IHC imagined fun and budget-friendly ideas for this year’s event to target Adult Swim’s truly dedicated fan base and reach new audiences.
Our all-encompassing campaign consisted of influencer mailer kits, a UGC cosplay challenge, moderator management, marketing support, and event calendar/ forum listings.
INFLUENCER BOX CAMPAIGN
IHEARTCOMIX increased hype and added an interactive element to the festival by engaging a select number of influencers to receive a Festival Watch Party + Merch Bundle with curated items to use during the fest. IHC produced custom boxes, helped curate the items, executed fulfillment, and assisted in curating a list of 25 influencers to participate.
IHC also performed outreach to all the influencers to obtain their addresses, confirm their participation, and followed up with influencers to remind them to tag @adultswim + #adultswimfestival if they wanted to share their boxes on social media.
This resulted in 76% of influencers sharing their boxes to an audience of 8,591,686 combined followers.
#ASFESTCHALLENGE
In order to increase excitement daily leading up to the festival, IHEARTCOMIX engaged Adult Swim’s diehard fans to recreate famous scenes from Adult Swim shows in order to win prize packs of increasing value. This simultaneously created fresh and interesting content for @adultswim to share and promote the fest daily to fans. IHC created all assets for the festival and executed fulfillment of prizes to 16 winners.We also promoted the challenge across the IHC social channels as well as through Adult Swim-related subreddits. The challenge received media features as well.
CHAT MODERATION
IHC also jumped on to help Adult Swim manage and moderate the livestream chat on Youtube. To do so, we organized a team of seasoned pros to manage contests and maintain the voice of Adult Swim during the festival. Over the course of both days IHC was responsible for coordinating these aspects of the chat moderation in collaboration with Adult Swim:

In order to maximize awareness of the lineup and drive viewers to the stream, IHC utilized our newsletter and social media accounts to promote the festival and all marketing initiatives we conceptualized for the fest. IHC also ensured that the festival was listed in national event calendars and promoted across relevant subreddits, discords, and forums beginning with announce all the way up to festival day.
