To celebrate the world premiere of Cruella, we identified and contracted graphic artist Camilla Lonis to create a customized Graffiti Wall to provide a unique and on-theme backdrop for the red carpet premiere.
Using pre-approved tweets from fans across the globe, our artist partner brought the disruptive excitement to life with Beggars Banquet-style doodles and scrawls on the life-size canvas.
We also captured a time lapse video of the process to document the creation process.
Camilla Lonis (Instagram) is the lead Art Director for Studio One, a creative agency founded by Shepard Fairey, where she also oversees OBEY Clothing. Her work and ethos embody the counterculture and female-forged path of what Cruella is all about with a multitude of fonts, graffiti and design. She also happens to already be a big Cruella fan!
Camilla utilized paint pens, spray paint and wheatpasting to achieve a textured result that emulated the designs and attitude from the film. Fans went wild seeing their tweets turn into art. Many happily shared screenshots of star Emma Stone posing in front of their tweets on the wall on social media.
Additionally, we invited a group of our favorite fashion influencers to attend the premiere screening where the wall was unveiled at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. They excitedly posted and shared images from the red carpet.
