Beats Presents: Hobo Johnson Album Release Experience

To celebrate the release of Hobo Johnson’s new record, The Fall of Hobo Johnson, Warner Records and Beats By Dre enlisted IHEARTCOMIX to produce a unique album release party that brought the world of the album to life.

For Hobo Johnson’s release event, IHC brought the immersive world of his songs, visuals, and personality into a tangible experience for fans and industry guests alike. We had just over a week to coordinate the many moving pieces that would make Hobo Johnson’s event a success and we quickly jumped into action, bringing on event staff, creatives and outlining the production details necessary execute the creative vision.

LIVE PERFORMANCE

Hobo Johnson and his band, the Lovemakers, greeted the audience with an interactive, engaging performance in which he performed some of his most popular songs as well as tracks from his newly released album.

BASKETBALL COURT

In a separate room, IHC built a “Hobo Johnson” half court complete with vinyl logo decals and the album art across the free throw line. A referee actor manned the area, enthusiastically encouraging people to play. Throughout the event Hobo Johnson’s newly released album played from the speakers. 

PHOTO MOMENTS

Photo moments were a key component of the event. Installed throughout the space, guests were able to interact with the sets and props, placing themselves directly into some of Hobo Johnson’s most popular videos. The photo opps included scenes from three videos “Ugly Kid” “Romeo & Juliet” and “Typical Story.”

“YOU AND THE COCKROACH” WORLDWIDE VIDEO PREMIERE

One of the highlights of the evening, was the premiere of Hobo Johnson’s new video “You and the Cockroach.” The projection was enhanced with an exclusive silent disco listening experience presented by Beats by Dre and complemented by baby Trump balloons and a costumed cockroach.

“BENIHOBO” FOOD TRUCK

In his song “Mover Awayer” Hobo Johnson sings “She makes my Ruby Tuesdays taste like Benihana’s.” We brought this lyric to life with a custom skinned “BeniHobo” Hibachi food truck with signs depicting a crossed out Ruby Tuesdays logo. 

CUSTOM T-SHIRTS

To commemorate the unique event, we created complimentary Hobo Johnson basketball camp-style tees which were distributed to guests.
