You may recognize LA artist Brittney Scott (or B666S, the handle she uses both online and on her spraypaint-scrawled graffiti found sprinkled around the country) from her Thump show “DEEP THOTS”, or from the interview she blessed us with a few months ago. If not, you’ll definitely recognize her signature MSPaint-style Twitter avatar; the frowning, hot pink doodle topped with a scribble of hair that accidentally jump-started Scott’s career as a viral art sensation.
We managed to catch up with Brittney last week at the latest of her semi-regular art shows. Aptly named “01101100 01101111 01101100” (which translates to “LOL” in binary code), the exhibit took place on Thursday at Echo Park art space Sunday (@sundaylosangele). Complete with Morse code blips from a Macbook centerpiece and a bottomless bucket of cold Pabst Blue Ribbon, “01101100 01101111 01101100” perfectly exemplified Brittney’s brand of cultural commentary- a winking deconstruction of the emojis and acronyms that define her generation.
Kitty: Tell me about these pieces and what inspired you to create this series.
Brittney: This series is about the internet. It’s all around us, it’s in everything we do. Everything here is about what makes up the internet because that’s what we’re made of.
Kitty: It’s like…really crowded in here. Are you excited about the turnout?
Brittney: Yeah
Kitty: There are a lot of well-known internet personalities here. That’s pretty ironic considering the meaning of the art.
Brittney: *lols*
Kitty: Is there anyone here that you’re particularly excited to see?

Kitty: Are you selling any of these pieces?
Brittney: Everything here is for sale for $720 (Kitty’s note: everything was later sold)
